Understanding Social Structure - India

 Knowledge of social structure

The Value of Societies

The society is an essential component of human existence that aids in the shaping and development of an individual. Social groups can arise and cultures are shaped by a society. And maybe most crucially, it fosters cross-cultural interaction. The society offers assistance to the individuals and establishes standards of conduct for its members. The calibre of the society's members is determined by the society itself.

Indian society's characteristics

Hinduism has its roots in ancient times and currently makes up the majority of Indian society. It is a culture that is accepting of variety and open-minded. Poets and writers praised the ancient Indian society as being the richest and most advanced society. Nevertheless, it was totally destroyed as the British Empire expanded into India. As a result, around 70% of Indians now reside in villages. Another significant aspect of the Indian social structure is the widespread illiteracy and ignorance of the populace. In India, the percentage of illiteracy is still above 60%. Social issues related to illiteracy are numerous. It has a complex social structure, which is what defines it as a pluralistic society. The caste system, which discriminates against people based on their place of birth, is a distinctive yet repulsive aspect of Indian society.

Social structures in Indian culture

Marriage and family

The joint family arrangement has been prevalent in India for many centuries. In the joint Indian family system, the oldest male member is the head and is in charge of all major decisions and rules. Unlike the western culture, the Indians place a high value on family ties. Due to their intense spirituality, Indians consider marriage to be a divine and lasting union, and divorce to be a sin. Divorces are hence less common in India.

The economy

In actuality, the Indian economy is based on agriculture. But recently, it has seen a move away from agriculture and toward industries like manufacturing and IT. With an annual growth rate of roughly 7%, the economy is expanding quickly. India recently surpassed the United States as a software powerhouse.

· Politics

India was the world's first democracy. It is a nation that offers complete freedom to its residents. India has a multi-party system of government, which is now led by the BJP. Indian laws are lenient and are the result of extensive debate and discussion.

Diversity in Unity

India is frequently regarded as a nation that bestexemplifies "Unity in Diversity." This is due to the fact that Indian society is extremely diverse on all fronts—religion, language, culture, caste, creed, and so forth—but each of these groups is united by a sense of patriotic pride and reverence for the motherland, India. Caste-based discrimination still exists, but it is far less prevalent than it was in the past.

Variability and Change

Every society experiences the inevitable process of change as time goes on. The emerging Indian society is being impacted by the appeal to western culture. It is disregarding its traditional way of life. The religious component of Indian society is declining, especially among young people. However, the pristine version of Indian family values and strong marital ties is still present. For more details www.yojanaformpdf.in
